Some of the chemical compounds added to our food act as preservatives, some as emulsifiers, etc. Why are they added? Are these food additives safe? How long have these things been added to food? Do any special groups of people have problems with any of these additives? What has been done to alert those with food allergies or intolerances of any problem with certain food items? Does the idea of food additives bug you? What other things show up in our food? We have been exploring the elements of the Periodic Table. Some of these elements are used by the body as minerals. What would happen if we didn't have these minerals in the correct amounts? What are the recommended amounts any way?
